Grandmother Earth Drum

The Heartbeat of Healing

The Grandmother Earth Drum is one of the first drums I ever made. I discovered her on the side of a West Virginia mountain, having been cut years before. After a long conversation, she agreed to return as a drum, so I started digging...

The only drum of its kind in the world.

Made from a real tree.

Made for spiritual  healing...direct from Mother Earth.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one of the most rare drums on earth, the Grandmother Earth Drum.

More than two years in the making, this Appalachian Red Oak drum was lovingly recovered from a deep forest on a mountain top where the Earth holds up the Sky in sacred union. It is a place where the red-tail hawk takes prayers to Great Spirit and returns with powerful medicine.

Mother Earth has given this gift for the benefit of the one who is ready to put self aside and to become the healer you were meant to be.

Price: $1,000 plus $200 s/h to U.S. customers. Others please inquire.

Additional Notes:

1. It is impossible to tell without expensive equipment whether The Grandmother Earth Drum was struck by lightning. The tie-down pegs and many decorations are made from lightning-struck wood, however.

2. This drum and rabbit fur collar are many years old, though the decorations are only a year or so old. Therefore, the drum head is slightly aged with a patina. The fur is in great shape.

3. The frame is an actual tree stump hollowed out mostly by weathering and decay. I merely cleaned it out down to the remaining wood, then added several cross-members and other reinforcing to help stabilize it. The interior does not have a finish like the outside, and is still rough.

4. Given the peculiar drum head construction, the drum will often need to be "tuned" before playing. It is quite easy to do (all you need is a heat source, like a hair dryer, light bulb, or even near a fire), and I will include instructions for doing so.

5. The Grandmother Earth Drum was used in perhaps 10 ceremonies since I made it. I never had intentions of selling it, but the spiritual path is always full of surprises!

6. I will finalize shipping details with the buyer. Is it you?

The storytellers of different cultures all speak of the mystical qualities of each of the sacred directions. Some of the symbols used to tell the stories are depicted on the Grandmother Earth Drum. In certain traditions, the movement around the circle can form the path of the seeker. Like this: Move from North to West, then through the center to East to South, then to West through the center to East and return to the North, thus forming the symbol of infinity. And in the so-called "Sacred Center" or "Sovereign Center" along with All That Is? Well, of course, it is YOU!
