Psst. Want to know a secret? Okay, here it is.
Let go.
Express.
Truly, those three words are the secret to healing of all kinds, spiritual, physical, mental or whatever. And they apply to healer and healed alike.
When one undertakes a shamanic journey on behalf of someone who suffers, it is a requirement that the shaman lets go of doubts, fears, ego and even of appearance, and to then express a desire to be of service.
For the patient, it is a requirement to let go of everything except a willingness to become a healer of self. One must express a desire to heal before it can occur.
I always feel the same way about making the sacred items on this site, as I constantly strive to let go and to express that which Spirit prompts.
This drum stand, which I call "The Shaman's Journey," is a case in point. The moment I started it, I felt so free and full of joy, just as I always do when starting a shamanic journey. It is such a wonderful feeling to let go and to express!
And when I was finished, there was a drum stand...looking back at me--and what a hairdo!
The symbolism, while whimsical on the surface, seems to suggest a strong connection with archetypal images from many cultures. Methinks this is no mere drum stand, but a willing guide as well. One who shows how to let go. And express.
